Cleaning Tips

Cleaning and maintenance of your home, office and personal space are a necessary evil. While no one likes to see dirt, crumbs and mess lying around- or worse.. there is the thought of having to put elbow grease and bust a sweat to get those areas cleaned once they are soiled. But it doesn’t have to be the case. There are ways to keep areas neat, prolong the need for a deep clean and more importantly, make the process a much less painful one when the time does come to cleaning . Below are 3 cleaning tips that everyone should know about.

Put Refrigerator Odors to Bed

Foul odors coming from a fridge can wreak havoc on not only your nostrils, but be offense in the work setting and create an uncomfortable environment for anyone who must smell it.

A few different techniques have been used to help keep odors away even after the offensive matter has been removed. Some Do-It-Yourself-ers swear by using newspaper as a refrigerator drawer liner - because the material is said to absorb odor from vegetables. Or others have used a coffee filter holding baking soda and tied into a knot as an odor absorber in the fridge.

Aside from the common use of an open container of baking soda, for greater odor issues, people have also reported using freshly ground coffee laid on a plate in the fridge to help absorb poor smells. Onions and cloths soaked in fragrances like vanilla have also been used to help combat odor in the fridge.

No More Messy Microwave

To help get rid of nasty splashes and stuck on gunk in the microwave you can steam clean it by placing one cup of vinegar and one cup of hot water in a mug and microwaving it for 10 minutes. the steam and acid in the vinegar soften up any caked on mess, so that once its done, you can simply wipe away the spills using just a paper towel.

Instead of vinegar, people have also used lemons in warm water instead. the acid in the lemon juices when heated for five minutes in the microwave offer the same effect to soften and loosen up and hard dirt in the appliance.

Keep your Toilet Bowl Cleaner Longer

A dirty, stained toilet bowl is unsettling to look at and can make an otherwise clean bathroom appear poorly maintained. There are ways to keep the bowl cleaner longer and ensure that nasty ring doesn’t appear in your toilet anymore. By adding Baking Soda, Vinegar and hot water to the bowl it will create a fizz that eats away at the stains so they can easily be brushed clean and flushed. For harder toilet rings wet and dry sandpaper and sanding away at the stains will help to eliminate the eyesore. If you have a pumice stone handy this is known to work as well.
